Our week long cabin experience was amazing. Great communication with the host with clear instructions. The drive up to the cabin can be a little challenging due to some narrow roads in spots, but take your time and it’ll be worth it. Sitting on the covered porch and watching the sun set each evening behind the mountains was priceless. The area recommendations such as restaurants were spot on and we checked out a handful of waterfalls. Honey Bear Cabin gets 10 stars in our book! We have been visiting the Bryson City area for 8 years now, and can honestly say that Laine’s cabin is one of the best! Everything was as described, beds were comfy, kitchen fully stocked, CLEAN, and fast WiFi to be so remotely located. We enjoyed playing pool, sitting by the fire pit (we brought our own wood), and relaxing on a snowy night in the hot tub. If you are looking for a place to unwind and unplug, this is just the place. We loved the high elevation, and even hiked to the highest peaks in the Alarka Highlands neighborhood. We were lucky enough to get snow on 2 different days! We’d gladly return to Honey Bear!Note fellow travelers: the cabin is 30 minutes from Bryson City. Be sure to make your grocery store run before heading up the mountain. Also, 4wd is a must, especially in the winter. The climb up is steep. We are experienced mountain drivers, and would not have attempted this drive without a 4wd or AWD.

We had a three night stay and highly recommend this property! This cabin is absolutely beautiful! The location is stunning. It was perfectly clean and comfortable. The view from every window and the long deck went on for miles in every direction. It feels like you’re on top of the mountain. Laine was always quick to respond to our questions before and during our stay. The directions provided to get to the cabin were exact and made it easy to find. One piece of advice I would offer to future guests. From the cabin to the closest grocery store is about a 30 minute drive through narrow windy roads. We had a wonderful stay at Honey Bear. The cabin is absolutely beautiful, well appointed, and feels very secluded, with incredible mountain views that you never get tired of. Everything was thoughtfully set up, from the comfortable living spaces to the pool table and hot tub, which were perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.We also really appreciated the Christmas tree that was set up for us—it was a lovely touch that made our stay feel extra special.The location is excellent—close to the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Bryson City’s downtown area, and also works great as a home base for a day trip to Asheville and the Biltmore. Communication was great throughout our stay, and Laine provided excellent tips and advice that were very helpful.The only minor consideration is the drive up the mountain. Beautiful! Cabin has a serene, stunning view of the mountains with a peaceful atmosphere. Inside is very open and spacious, clean and lovely kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and great separate den with billiard table.
